2027 – “The Year of the Cat”

The imagery of the line of lyrics above summarizes 2027 or at least parts of it perfectly. The verse is taken from the Al Stewart 1976 classic, “The year of the cat“. The title of the same name that I’ve given 2027 is taken from that song in part, though there were quite a few “coincidences” that led to that happening, including a tie-in to an actual year of the cat i.e. 1975.  But we’ll get into all that as we go along… for now let’s back up a bit….

I’m very particular about my yearly titles. Whether it’s 2026’s “Mustard Rhino“, or 2023’s “Restoration” they all have a deep meaning to me. But it’s not just about me. My friends have been counting on them for years and years, and now I have this blog, and people come from out of nowhere to read these yearly title articles. Some only visiting the blog once a year to get the coming year’s title. Most of these readers have never visited SLT on YouTube. The thing is for many my titles are enough, they don’t even read the article. They treat the year’s title like a piece of art, allowing its meaning to reveal itself to them like some kind of Jackson Pollock painting. In either case, whether they want the year’s title to reveal itself to them, or get my take on it via the article, or both. With thousands of people reading this shit I think you can understand why I kinda want to get the title right. Well this one is right for sure… And I’ll tell you why…

It’s usually just after or during Lion’s Gate energies the coming year begins to roll in and I begin to see signs of what’s to come. I saw the signs as far as the energy went, but I couldn’t put my finger on a label/title for it. So I put it out there to the universe to show me the year’s title like I always do. The energies around us as I often tell you are always talking to us, and trying to show us things. Usually those things are very subtle and often you only realize what a given sign means hours or even days months or years after seeing it. But in this case, and trust me when I say, this must be a very important year. Because I have never in all my years of titling years seen so many glaringly obvious giant arrows pointing to a title.

The song was my biggest clue from the universe. I hadn’t heard this song in a decade or more. Then all of a sudden this song “The year of the cat” was ringing out over the speakers in no less than 3 different stores I went to while shopping one day. Then a day or two later I heard it on classic rock radio in the car. Which never happens by the way. I mean I listen to these same stations religiously. I know their playlists by heart. These stations don’t play Al freakin’ Stewart, unless maybe the regular DJ is out sick and a pot smoking womanizing yoga instructor who calls himself Vishnu is filling in. Or the regular DJ is there but he’s being held hostage at gunpoint by the same pot smoking womanizing yoga instructor and ordered to play the song on a loop, likely with some Cat Stevens “Peace Train” or “Moonshadow” thrown in for good measure.

So that being said, I got the energy’s point fairly quickly that the phrase, “The Year of the Cat” was gonna be my title for 2027.  Then I had to piece it all together with the energy and card pulls I was getting on the coming year. This is where the fun began. And let me tell you, 2027 should be one hell of a wild ride. Both good and bad of course, but wild none the less.

Let’s first talk about the phrase, “The year of the cat“. Well as coincidence would have it, (and of course there are no coincidences) the energy of 2027 that I was picking up on was jiving well with the mid-70s. It had a real 70s vibe to it, mainly 1975 in particular. In fact, I was thinking about 1975 themed titles for the year prior to the signs coming in for “The year of the cat“.  There is actually a “Year of the cat” in Vietnamese astrology . “The year of the cat” is equivalent to the rabbit in Chinese astrology fyi. In fact February 1975 through January 1976 as “coincidence” would have it was an actual year of the cat, and to add to that, I came to find out that the Al Stewart song “The year of the cat” was written at the end of the year of the cat in January of 1976.  Thus creating a feedback loop of coincidences, along with the fact that the Vietnam war ended in 1975, right smack in the middle of the year of the cat. April 1975 if I recall correctly.

So as I said there is a wicked feedback loop of “coincidences” in-play with this year’s title.  Which is good, for reasons I’ll explain…

As a side-note, and to get you started prior to reading my thoughts on the coming year below. It might interest you to know that two of the biggest Rock hits of 1975 were, Queen’s “Bohemian Rhapsody“, and Springsteen’s, “Born to run“…  Those two songs (as “coincidence” would have it) are pretty fitting for the coming year, I think… One is about a boy who kills someone, but we mustn’t take lyrics literally, so it’s basically about a boy who did wrong or maybe a lot of wrong, gets caught, and then cries out for salvation. The other song is about freedom, and getting some of it back, or taking it back before it’s too late…

Before we get started it’s good to note something I said in the 2026 write-up for “The year of the Mustard Rhino“. I said, the first part of 2027 up to about May or so is Mustard Rhino energy bleed-over.  So for the first part at least of 2027, many of 2026’s themes will still be in play. With many truths still to be uncovered, things going on behind the scenes we didn’t know about being uncovered. I expect 2027 to be filled with unexpected findings, confessions, blame shifting, and hearings on the societal side. In your personal lives, many hidden issues may be coming to the surface in your families and relationships as well, so do keep that in mind.

So what of 2027???  Well, let’s first dive into the song, “The year of the cat” and why its basic meaning and theme fits with 2027’s energetic vibe. At it’s core the song is about a tourist who gets sidetracked by a beautiful and seductive woman in a silk dress. He spends the night with her. Surprised the next morning that she’s still there, he ends up missing his tour bus/group. But that turns out to be one of the best things that ever happened to him, as it changed his life forever.  It’s amazing how even something that we know will end up being just a memory can do this for us.

Throughout the song the imagery has a bit of a Casablanca vibe to it, with the first verse talking about a morning from a Bogart movie, strolling through a crowd like Peter Lorre contemplating a crime. This creates a surreal vibe, and that vibe will carryover well into 2027’s energy.  In fact it’s the main pull from the song itself for the year ahead. But the biggest pull from the song as it pertains to 2027 is getting sidetracked. The unexpected people, places, and situations. The randomness of it all, and the need to be like the Willow and just bend with the wind as it blows. The energies around you at many points in 2027 will be conspiring to bring some adventure and magic your way. Much of it in the form of some pretty memorable detours. Many new people are likely to enter our lives during 2027. ALL of these people are important, even if you think they’re not. Trust me, they’re ALL meaningful. But also pretty much everything that happens TO YOU in 2027 is meaningful. If I were you though, I would pay special close attention to anything that alters your plans. I think you’ll find in most cases, if not all cases, that you’ll have a great deal of gratitude for those alterations. In the song it was a girl in a silk dress running like a water color in the rain that caught our protagonist’s eye… In your life it might be a guy in silk underwear running towards you in the rain. I don’t know… Either way, magic is magic, and memorable is memorable.

I do know that 2027’s energy is already beginning to roll in and has been since about mid-August. It’ll get very strong and take hold and blend deeply with the remaining 2026 energies on or around the 11/11 Energetic New Year energies in early/mid November.

As I wrap-up the song portion of my write-up I’ll suggest that right now…(and it’s not too late even if you’re reading this in mid-2027, so no worries) you put yourself into an energy of openness to an anything can happen vibe. A lot of the song’s vibe in 2027 that I’ve been talking about involves Jupiter’s placement on some level by the way. The year opens with Jupiter in Leo, and sees it move to Virgo mid-year. These energies were last in-play in 2015. I know for me a met several new important soulmates that year, and even launched a few new partnerships. Some things even happened that year that set some of the foundations for what would be Steve’s Love Tarot in the future in 2021. While this year is not an exact energy match for 2015 of course, similar themes will play out thanks to Jupiter, however this time around everything that happens will seem a bit more surreal than it did the last time Jupiter held its current placements. I think the song’s opening line describes it best…. “Like a morning from a Bogart movie…”….

Now that we’re past how the song the year’s title comes from ties in, let’s talk about the “COINCIDENTAL” 1975 tie-in and how that might play out in your life and maybe a pinch out in the world as well…

1975 was a year of great change. It was quite pivotal.  A lot of people might argue that was 1974, because Nixon resigned and the VP Ford was sworn in as President etc..  But a lot of the background noise i.e. the Vietnam war etc. was all still going on as normal through all of that. It wasn’t until 75 when shit began hitting fans… Visionaries came on the scene with Microsoft’s coming into being. The technologies that would shape the future that we live in began to put down roots. Hell even music improved. 1975 was a great year for music. By contrast 1974 is often touted as the worst year ever for music. Although I would argue they didn’t have the ability to hear the shit that’s being produced these days back then..  So we’ll just say as for the 60s, 70s, and 80s. i.e. the heyday of Rock, 1974 was shit…. lol …

Music aside, and we’ve already covered some of that, 1975 saw the end of the Vietnam war. We’re in a war right now, so that’s a good sign for 2027, however there was backlash when we pulled out of Vietnam. Without going into a separate 2000 word history lesson, I’ll just say on the negative side there will likely be some backlash for our current war. So 2027 isn’t ALL going to be silk dress wearing girls, and silk underwear clad guys living in a Bogart movie… That said, keep you eye on the open sky,,, you never know what will be coming down. That same “unpredictability” that alters your plans for the better, also applies on the other side of the energy.  On the possible good news side of the world events section of it all. 1975 saw the OPEC price freeze agreement, lowing crude oil prices, and easing things at the pump for the rest of us. We also began relying on our own reserves more with the construction of the Alaska Pipeline. And President Ford rolled back oil prices to $7.66 per barrel and began the US strategic petroleum reserve. On the downside, (so don’t plan on .50 cents per gallon prices returning any time soon) and not to pee on all this, but by contrast current oil per barrel prices at the time of this article’s creation are approx. $100 per barrel.

So beyond world events and history, how does the 1975 year of the cat vibe play out in your personal life? Well there’s two sides to the story in your personal life in 2027 the way I read the energy anyway…  There’s the song “The year of the cat” side which we’ve already talked about, and that’s all great and magical, and yup, some of you might have some nights to remember… But there’s also the 1975 vibe, which may make you feel a bit sluggish if you let it. Mostly your personal life will be effected by economic issues and stress. Prices will be high, more of a stagflation kind of vibe as it was in 1975.

Look…. I’ll shoot straight, and the similarities are vast… In 1975 any historian will tell you the people were burned out, cynical, and politically fed up. The song portion of this coming year is a gift from the universe. It’s an escape to a surreal other world.  It’s like a morning from a Bogart movie.

So the 1975 vibe energies of the year sound like shit, I know…. But actually it’s not. All that burnout and fatigue with society and prices and wars and politics can take you to a breaking point. And that’s exactly what happened in 1975, and it’s exactly what will likely happen in 2027.

If we dig a little deeper into the energy, or even some of the history we find that the people in 1975 escaped from it all. The is where they song “The year the cat” vibe rolls in and blends with the 1975 vibe. People in this era snapped a bit due to societal stress overload and lived a bit of the fantasy… Rather hedonistically too I might add!!! 1975 saw the rise of DISCO for example, (That’s the way, a hu a hu they liked it). Clubbing, the nightlife, dinner parties/the urban myth of key parties & wife swapping, but in general “getting down”, and “letting it all hang out” became a thang… On the flip of all that, people in 1975 also began to focus on fitness and taking care of themselves. The fitness and wellbeing phase kicked into high gear and went mainstream. It’s the year most of the hippies stopped fighting for world causes and started looking in and became their own best friends. Eating right, yoga, and shit like that. Salads were very big in this energy. Jogging became quite big in 75 too. While that’s common now and has been for awhile, jogging used to be a niche thing. it had kicked in a few years prior to 75, but in 75 it went mainstream, along with some pretty tacky outfits.

Movies changed and arguably got better in 75. Filmmakers were channeling through their movies. It all kicked off with Jaws. Its line about “just when you thought it was safe to go back in the water” was a sign of the times in many ways. But it rings very true in today’s world as well. I’m afraid to turn on the news to see what crazy nonsense seemingly designed to hurt people happened today. Sad to say this energy will continue to ring very loud in 2027 as well. But on the movie side of things, as movies tend to define our pop-culture on many levels. I think as I read the energy beginning maybe in 2027 or 2028 we’ll start to see the beginning of the end of all these crappy predictable franchise based movies they’re doing these days. Everything has been so tacky and contrived, i.e. Disney’s pillaging of the Star Wars empire (I curse the day Lucas sold out to them, I’m all but waiting for another stupid new show or movie on Dis-plus like “Chewbacca the primary school years”..). But pretty much every fucking movie made these days is some sort of franchise like a Marvel thing for example. All of this has ruined pop-culture a bit. I mean who are the kids supposed to identify with???  Aquaman???  God I hope not!!!!  So, who knows, we might start to see some inspiring movies again, quality, well written, and god willing well acted one-off films that inspire people to innovate or grow. Fingers crossed anyway…

The pop-culture Disco and movie references above are important. If you don’t think they are, you need to take a look around. As we leave 2026 and enter 2027 “The Year of the Cat” we have no real pop-culture anymore. It’s all just social media which is a failed experiment. It was sold to us as a way to bring us together and all its done is divide us and at its worst allow people filled with hate who used to be isolated to find each other, and worse yet grow into organizations of sorts. Social media is always a super easy way to spread misinformation. Most people are idiots and they just believe what they read. Especially if it’s in a meme. lol.. lol..

I remember the way people were in the mid-80s for example. I was a child then. It was a great fun time to grow up for the most part. I feel sad for my niece and nephew that they don’t have the really cool childhood that I had. Back then people, especially kids had hope for the future. Sure some scary shit was happening then too but there was less stress around it, in part because we had at least some faith that our leaders knew what they were doing and at least cared if we lived or died, (as Sting sang at the time, “I hope the Russians love their children too”, which thankfully it seems they did.), but also because people in general had something to hope for, a dream, or someone from a movie they wanted to be like, such as Marty McFly or one of the Brat-pack. We had a pop-culture in the 80s and early 90s that wasn’t based on superficial shit, it was activity based. You had to be good at something to be famous for example. It was all very exciting. My point is everything wasn’t all just a bunch of logging onto social media to show off a fancy infused coffee, or bully someone. And worst of all it’s too easy to read more about the scary/idiotic shit going on in the world and see a trending hashtag from all those hate-filled people who’ve now found each other thanks to said social media.

2027 will likely see a breaking point of some sort. There’s a break in the energetic storm that’s possessing most lower vibrational people right now. It’s a momentary break that provides massive clarity. And it provides an opening where people as I said earlier “escape“, just as they did in 1975. Truth be told, without 1975 the 80s and 90s wouldn’t have been what they were. I grew up then, and while they were not perfect they were much better than today. Having said that, I think without 2027 the future certainly won’t be what it has at least the “potential” to be. 2027 is a year that’s been heavily prophesized about. It’s a pivotal what I call “springboard year“. 2027 brings a chance to alter our future and open the door to a deluge of hope energies. Energies I might add that anyone like me can feel just cannot get in right now. There are many frequencies of hope. We have a few currently in-play, but the really good ones, the ones that make life worth living, the ones that inspire young people, the ones that inspire innovation, just cannot get through the current energetic muck.  Currently on our present path computer models have predicted the end of our society as we know it by 2040 due to greed/selfishness, a general “me first” or “us first” attitude and the resulting resource consumption that comes of all of that nonsense. I agree with that math fyi. 2027 and its “The Year of the Cat” vibe, gives us the chance to set things right. Again, not unlike what happened in 1975.

I’ll end here by saying this…

2027 has a heaviness to it for sure… But it also has this crazy fun, hedonistic, mysterious, adventurous vibe to it as well. If you can tap into the fun, hedonistic, adventurous side of the year, and do what the people in 1975 did, which is basically tune out the fucking news because they were just burned out on world-events.. Then you can have a DISCO, nightlife, boogie woogie morning from a Bogart movie kind of year… And that’s what I really hope, and wish for all of you.

In 2027, I want you to enjoy your life again… Or if you have been enjoying it, I want you to enjoy it even more!!! It’s “The Year of the Cat” after all, in the spirit of the song at least.  It is a year to definitely not let the bastards get you down.

During the SLT “Year of the Cat“, it’s wise to remember that cats maneuver quickly, and adapt well to new surroundings and situations. They’re smart, and always curious. They can read a room real well too. And hey…. those are fitting traits to shore-up anyway, as they will serve you well in 2027, and for the rest of you life for that matter.

Enjoy the year…. Do what you want to do, make your own decisions but if you follow my advice it should be overall one of the best years you’ve ever had… Or a pretty surreal/magical one at times anyway…  And it’s always best to remember that life is lived in moments. It’s like a movie, a bunch of picture stills put in motion.  If all your 2027 contains is 2 good stills out of 1000. Show some gratitude for those 2 stills, and next year you may just get 4. But I’ll also add,,,,, those 2 still in 2027 will likely be pretty spectacular.
